YardSnipe is built to reduce the need to search many disconnected salvage-yard websites individually. It collects available vehicle inventory information from supported public sources and normalizes those records into a common search experience.
YardSnipe does not own the vehicles and does not control the physical yards. The original yard remains the authority for availability, pricing, policies, and operating hours.
Different sources require different handling
Salvage businesses use many inventory systems. Some publish structured feeds, some use vendor platforms, and others present inventory through custom websites. The amount and format of available information therefore varies substantially.
YardSnipe's ingestion work maps those differences into common fields such as year, make, model, yard, location, stock number, dates, photographs, and other details when available.
Refresh schedules and source health
Inventory sources are refreshed on recurring schedules. A source can also become temporarily unavailable, change its website, or return incomplete information. Reliable aggregation requires detecting those situations instead of blindly treating every response as current truth.
YardSnipe's operational goal is to favor fresh source data while avoiding avoidable disappearance caused only by a temporary source problem.
Why records can still be imperfect
Aggregation cannot make the source more accurate than the information it publishes. A wrong model, missing engine, old photograph, or delayed removal can originate upstream. Normalization can improve consistency but cannot guarantee the physical condition of a vehicle.
That is why YardSnipe presents inventory as discovery information and encourages final verification for important trips.
