Maintenance Complete: 200 Yards, 215,000+ Vehicles, and New Features
YardSnipe maintenance is officially complete. The full vehicle catalogue is viewable again, our live inventory refresh system has received a major reliability upgrade, and YardSnipe has now reached 200 yards with more than 215,000 vehicles available across the platform.
During the maintenance period, parts of our live vehicle catalogue were temporarily unavailable while we repaired and upgraded the systems responsible for processing and publishing inventory. That work is now complete, and the full catalogue is available again.
Before maintenance, YardSnipe had already grown beyond 205,000 vehicles. We have now pushed past that milestone again, reaching 200 yards and more than 215,000 vehicles, with a lot more yard coverage still coming.
One of the biggest improvements made during this maintenance period was an overhaul of the live inventory refresh system. YardSnipe continuously depends on changing inventory from many different salvage yards, so keeping those updates reliable becomes increasingly important as the platform grows.
The upgraded refresh system now uses stronger validation, safer publishing, refreshed vehicle indexes, automatic health checks, and additional safeguards designed to reduce the chance of a bad inventory update interrupting the website. No system is impossible to break, especially this early in YardSnipe’s development, but the infrastructure behind the catalogue is significantly stronger than it was before this maintenance began.
We have also fully implemented two pieces of infrastructure that will become much more important as YardSnipe grows: user notifications and direct messaging.
Those systems are intentionally pretty quiet right now because most of the features that will depend on them have not launched yet. Their real purpose becomes clear with what is coming next.
Notifications will eventually support features such as vehicle watchlists, saved searches, new-arrival alerts, marketplace activity, replies, messages, and other personalized updates. Direct messaging will allow YardSnipe users to communicate with each other as community and marketplace features expand.
They will be especially important when we begin rolling out the planned YardSnipe marketplace for buying and selling used automotive parts. Building the messaging and notification foundation now means those future features can be added on top of systems that are already in place instead of trying to bolt everything together later.
Watchlists, marketplace tools, better alerts, deeper parts data, more yard coverage, and several other features are still ahead. There is a lot happening behind the scenes that will gradually turn YardSnipe from a vehicle search tool into a much larger platform for finding, researching, buying, selling, and reusing automotive parts.
Most importantly, we want to thank everyone in the YardSnipe community for your patience and understanding while we work through this awkward early phase of YardSnipe’s beginning.
We are building quickly, and sometimes that means discovering the limits of a system only after YardSnipe grows enough to hit them. Every problem we solve now gives us a stronger foundation for the next hundred yards, the next hundred thousand vehicles, and the next wave of people who discover the platform.
The support, feedback, traffic, follows, shares, and simple patience from everyone who has been checking out YardSnipe this early genuinely means a lot.
Maintenance is complete. The full catalogue is back. We have crossed 200 yards and 215,000 vehicles, and we have a lot more coming soon.
Thank you for being here this early.
